Inspiration

The main inspiration for my final MA collection was seashells.  I love the variety of shapes and contours found in seashells, and from a young age have often been found  scouring the shoreline for new and interesting finds.

To extend my knowledge and research how I could use this as a starting point for knitwear, I read many books on seashells from my local library and visited the Natural History Museum in London and the Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.  Both of these museums have extensive collections of seashells and molluscs and, between these visits, the wealth of seashells I read about plus observational drawings of my seashells, I definitely had enough inspiration to get my creative juices flowing… and this subject matter has continued to influence and inform my work since completing my MA.
